On Saturday afternoon our friends and enthusiastic junior sailors the brave youngsters from the 1st Port Natal Sea Scouts took to the Bay in their rowing boat. We spotted them rowing down the Esplanade channel on their way to Bayhead and Camp Fisheagle where they spent the weekend camping.
It is wonderful to see these youngsters smiling and enjoying the water under the careful guidance and leadership of resident Scout Master Koko Bahizire. We had to smile as the Sea Leopard passed the R B Townsend with Koko seated at the stern issuing instructions to his crew and keeping his oarsmen all in time. We could not help noticing the outboard on the transom and wondered how long it would be before the troop tired of all the rowing and the Yamaha took over!
No doubt all the youngsters had a fun weekend and returned home on Sunday morning in time for Junior Sailing back at the Club. Next weekend some of our junior sailors, including some members of the 1st Port Natal Sea Scouts will be travelling to Midmar to represent the Club at the KZN Inter Schools Regatta hosted by Henley Midmar Yacht Club. Special thank you to Andy Brown for his generous donation towards sponsoring the sustenance for the weekend and to Jennifer Weyer, Shereen Steytler, Jeremy Beckett and Graham Pennels for escorting the teams to Midmar.
We wish Jennifer Weyer and her crew fair winds and loads of fun.
