Following the Annual General Meeting of the International Council of Yacht Clubs (ICoYC) this morning 27th April we are delighted to confirm that the Royal Natal Yacht Club, represented by the Commodore, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the ICoYC.
We are grateful to the ICoYC Nominations Committee consisting of the St Francis Yacht Club, Norddeutscher Regatta Verein, Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, Royal Norwegian Yacht Club, Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Sandringham Yacht Club, Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, Southern Yacht Club, Royal Southern Yacht Club and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron for proposing our Club to represent Africa on the Board of Directors and to all the ICoYC member clubs who confirmed our nomination at the AGM.
“This appointment is an important development for our Club” said the Commodore this morning. Once again the Royal Natal Yacht Club has an opportunity to contribute to growth and development of yachting on a global level. In addition we continue to enjoy the support of our international friends who provide valuable input and advice to our Club and which ultimately benefits the entire South African sailing community. We can be proud that our Club, as the only representative from Africa, is sufficiently respected and recognised by our significant international peer clubs to be elected to the Board of Directors.
We look forward to working with our many international friends and the all ICoYC clubs in continuing to add value to yacht club membership for ordinary members around the world and contributing positively to yachting in general.
