A big thank you to all the sailors for their gifts of toys – I distributed the gifts to the children in Medical and Surgical Wards at King Edward hospital on Christmas Eve, for which they were most grateful.
Can you believe, we are now halfway through our sailing season – ?? Our Leader Board is updated – thank you Clive Jackson for your input – so be in it to win it!!
RNYC is hosting this Wednesday night Fun’d sailing, Windguru has predicted a light SE 7/8 so hopefully we will get a race in and enjoy an evening on the water, thereafter a supper and a“cold one” on the lawns .
There is Dinghy sailing next Saturday at 2pm in the Bay, and for those more adventurous, RNYC are hosting the first race in the Squadron series on Sunday 14th January off shore.
We, in the sailing fraternity, were saddened to learn of Ian Slatem’s death on New Year’s Day – having gone abseiling off Table Mountain with two visitors to SA. Ian’s Memorial service is being held at the MCSA (Mountain Club) 97 Hatfield St. CT at 2pm. Anyone wishing to attend will be most welcome. Ian was an avid sailor and chairman of the L26 Association. Our sincere condolences to out to his family.
