RNYC Wed Fun’d Sailing – Wednesday 25 October 2017
25 October, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Thank goodness our weather has calmed down. My sincere condolences to all who suffered damage/loss to their yachts last week. I have never seen a storm like that in Durban and certainly would not want to again. That was just a little taste of what the hurricane must have done to the BVI, Puerto Rico, Florida.
A very big thank you to all those that worked tirelessly last week, ensuring that boats were saved – Malcolm May and the Marina team have worked miracles. Thank you also to Leo Kroone, Graham Rose and all other volunteers working together ensuring everyone was safe. It was a mammoth task in very trying circumstances. Our team of Dart/Halcat sailors at RNYC also braved the weather, ensuring that the boat parking area was cleaned up and boats righted as soon as possible. Thanks go to Andy, Rob, the Wadsworths, Phil, and anyone else that was available and of course our RNYC staff under the guidance of Meleney, providing nourishing refreshments.
As you know, the Port was closed and we at RNYC did not run our race. PYC, hopefuly, are blessed with good weather tonight, the 18th October and RNYC will commence their series next Wednesday 25th October, weather permitting. Entertainment will be served, together with good food and cold beer.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the water.
Yours in sailing
