This coming weekend sees Royal for the first time holding the Halcat KZN provincial championship. The Halcats are an active class at our club with great rivalry amongst its competitors.
There will racing on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am. There are a maximum of 8 races with 4 races needed to constitute a championship, it will be a good sight from the lawns to watch 25 Halcats and maybe even 30 competing for the Provincial trophy. Come down and watch the racing and afterwards join the competitors as we discuss our war stories around the fire.
Here is a list of some of the top competitors .
Rob Samways – Current Provincial champion and going for a hat trick
Neil Wadsworth – Woza Friday champion and hot favourite
Ben Mienie – Springbok sailor and ex World Dart champion
Roger Hill – National champion
Patrick Harris – Top RNYC sailor but trying out Halcats for the first time .
Halcats are a locally made boat which have been around for many a year and are a great starter into the art of Catamaran sailing.
