LET’S GO SAILING

Hi All,

We’ve had our ups and downs with the weather and wind, resulting in us having to cancel two of our LET’S GO SAILING days this year, but we have persevered and Sunday, 26th February saw lovely weather with a 16knot SW blowing.  With 6 Scouts and 5 members children taking to the water and yip they had awesome fun out on the water.

The time has come for the LET’S GO SAILING programme to branch out. With the assistance of the LET’S GO SAILING programme and ROYAL NATAL YACHT CLUB we are taking 6 children to SAS KZN Youth Regionals & Interschools on the 18th to 20th March 2017 at HMYC.

I would like to thank the RNYC committee for their generous contribution in sponsoring the entry fee for the participants to the regatta. This will be the juniors first MAJOR regatta from our programme.

We will be taking Nfundo Luthuli, Sanel Mcinra, Siyathemba Nzama, Taine Steytler on RS Tera’s and Gabriel Pennels, Mathew Beckett on oppies. I have selected these youth as they have been regular attendants on the LETS GO SAILING programme. With assistance from parents Shireen Steytler, Graham Pennels, Jeremy Beckett that are going to tow boats and equipment to the event. Thank you in advance. The juniors are going to have a blast.

I would also like to thank Andy Brown from the sailing committee who has generously sponsored R1000.00 towards the sustenance of the juniors for the weekend. Thank you very much your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Cool now this weekend saw one of our LETS GO SAILING juniors being donated a HALCAT. With the assistance of Graham Weyer & Neil Wadsworth assisting Taine Steytler to put all the parts together Taine was able to launch “Toxic” at high tide on Sunday, 5th March 2017.

Accompanied by the “BALLIES on the Bay” Taine was chaperoned out into the bay on his HALCAT where he took to sailing his halcat with great ease.  Senior halcater’s watch out the youth are going to be on your tails very soon. Welcome! to the sailing family Taine.

OUR NEXT JUNIOR SAILING WILL BE ON SUNDAY the 26th MARCH 2017 12:30 to 16:00.

I would like to wish our 6 entrants FAIR WINDS AND GOOD SAILING ON THE 18th to 20th MARCH 2017.
