Nautical Trivia by “Fonz”

Kit and Kaboodle

In the Royal Navy, “kit” is equipment, including uniforms, that is provided by the service. “Kaboodle” was a slang phrase for personal items kept by the sailor (necessarily small in size and quantity because of little or no storage space/privacy). If one was transferred out, one was required to take all “Kit and Kaboodle.”
