WEDNESDAY NIGHT FUN’D SAILING
A big thank you to the team, Hans, Jennifer and Pam for running last Wednesday’s race for me whilst I was in Cape Town and to Moses for mark laying – it is always appreciated.
From the comments I saw, everyone enjoyed their sail – and having 20 boats at the start line makes me happy. Wednesdays are FUN and we want to keep it that way. When I started sailing in Durban on a Wednesday, we looked forward to that break in the week to relax and bring friends to introduce them to the sport. Let’s all make the effort to do that and keep “Bums on boats”.
Clive Jackson has been putting a lot of time into working on the results and for that I thank him.
Margie Harris has taken leave from RNYC and is off to Australia to see her family. Have a good one Margie. In her place, please welcome back Kearin, who has taken over Margie’s position, as Sailing Secretary.
We tried to have Keeler off Shore sailing on Sunday, but, unfortunately, the wind blew too hard, not making the conditions conducive to race, together with the fact that only three yachts turned out to compete. This race has been postponed until further notice– the second in the series being scheduled for 10th December, so hopefully, we will have more entrants.
In the meantime – see you for sailing next Wednesday 22nd November, RNYC will be hosting: Meleney and her team providing us with good food and cold beers.
Yours in Sailing
PS – Don’t forget our CANSA drive is on-going: every R20 you give, allows you a ticket in our Raffle for a 3 night stay at Kirkman’s Kamp – courtesy of Steven Saad of Aspen – if you are not in it – you can’t win it.
