The Port of Durban is currently experiencing a growing number of derelict craft in the port.
These craft are abandoned in the port causing a navigational & safety hazard as well as a financial burden to the port in order to have them removed.
As per the Port Rules no craft within a port may materially reduce its state of seaworthiness for any purpose without the prior written consent of the Harbour Master.
lt has therefore become necessary for all Marinas, yacht and boating clubs that have unseaworthy, unlicensed or unused craft in the water to instruct the owners to remove these craft from the port with immediate effect.
It must also be mentioned that no Commercial/Pleasure craft may be licensed without having a permanent mooring certificate for their craft.
