Spioenkop Longhaul and Sailing Weekend
Attention All Multi Hull Sailers
SPIOENKOP LONGHAUL AND SAILING WEEKEND
From Friday 2th December to Sunday 4th December 2016.
This is so much more than a sailing event. Yes we have enough water in the dam. Although the dam is about 50% there is plenty of water to sail on.
It’s an opportunity to get together for the final event in Northern Natal for the year for a great party at a venue like no other in KZN.
A great place where the family can camp for next to nothing, can take a game drive to check the rhinos, the giraffes, zebras and the many buck species Where, when you at last go to bed after meeting with sailing friends and partying in the clubhouse, the only sounds are the howling of the jackals.
Camping.- No entry fee to the reserve and R30 pp per night. Camp around one of the thatched shelters where at least 20 can relax. Each has now power and water laid on. Probably clubs will join together in a lapa but there are more than enough. The reserve gates will stay open until 21h00 on Friday, Note that the camping fee must be paid at the Club. You will need the disk to get out of the reserve
The longhaul to the top of the dam will start 10ish on Saturday. The 34km to take mark and back can take at best 4 hours or up to 6 hours. The course goes to where the Tugela flows into the dam. Look for the fish eagle nest on the port side right at the top. Usually the sail up is gentle when you can appreciate the bird calls. Coming back when the wind generally picks up can be exciting. The beer boat will dispense ice cold beers all the way. Rescue available
Sunday we will have some round the cans racing. Great Prizes for all. Catering will be laid on for the whole weekend.
FRIDAY – Anton’s Famous Curry and Rice Free (Braai Packs at a charge and fires available if you wish)
SATURDAY EVENING – . Lamb on the Spit R50.00 including salads and a roll or Braai packs available it you so wish
BREAKFASTS – Bacon and egg rolls. R25.00
LUNCH – Burgers available R30.00
Entry fee for the regatta is R200 per boat.
