Vasco da Gama Clock
The Vasco da Gama Clock is in need of major restoration and preservation work and is based at RNYC.
We are very grateful to the enthusiastic group of members who undertook the project to preserve one of Durban’s most historic and important landmarks. It is significant that the Royal Natal Yacht Club has been granted permission by the Ethekwini Municipality and Amafa to undertake this project for which we are very grateful.
This ambitious project is unfortunately proceeding slowly, primarily due to the need for further funding as well as the input and guidance from the government. We are however very proud that the first stage of the restoration project has thus far been completed and funded entirely through the generosity of members.
The public and members wishing to become involved in the project or wishing to assist in the funding of the restoration of this magnificent structure are encouraged to contact the RNYC Club Manager, as we are currently seeking donations and support from corporate companies and government to assist with the funding of the project.
