ROYAL NATAL YACHT CLUB HOUSE RULES INTRODUCTION
These House Rules are implemented to maintain the standards of the Club and to regulate the use of the Clubhouse and its facilities by members and their guests so as to ensure the peaceful use and enjoyment of the facilities by all members and their guests.
NON MEMBERS & GUESTS
A non-member may not be introduced to the club on any more than four days in any one calendar month. The names of visitors and of members introducing them must be entered in a book provided for that purpose. The member is responsible for his guest at all times during his visit to the Club. This rule shall not apply to occasions where a non-member is participating in an event or competition organized by the Club.
CREW ON RACE DAYS
On yacht race days members may bring members of their crew to the Club premises. Such crews will be classed as temporary members for that day and shall be required to observe all House Rules and Bye Laws.
Domestic pets are not allowed on the Club premises.
- Notices or advertisements shall not be posted or displayed in or on the Club premises without the sanction of the Secretary /
- Notices shall be displayed for a period of 14 days
No member (or any visitor) shall give any gratuity to any Club employee except via the Staff gratuity scheme or other such authorized fund.
The conduct of Club employees is the responsibility of Management. Members may not reprimand or discipline staff but should direct all complaints in writing to the Club Secretary.
USE OF CLUB STAFF
Members are not permitted to use Club employees for private errands except with the permission of the Secretary / Manager.
Gambling is forbidden on Club premises.
COMPLAINTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Complaints and suggestions should be submitted in writing to the Secretary / Manager for the attention of the General Committee.
Only those foods and beverages that have been purchased at the Club are permitted to be consumed on the premises.
Members and their guests are required to conform to the following minimum Dress Code:-
Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays)
Smart casual, i.e. shirt with collar, slacks or tailored shorts, covered shoes and socks
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays
Neat sportswear and covered shoes until 18H00, thereafter smart casual
Monday to Sunday and Public Holidays Neat sports wear and shoes.
Relaxed dress (No swimming costumes or hats within the Clubhouse)
No member shall introduce anyone who has been rejected as a member or who has been struck off the list of members; has been suspended or whose presence, in the opinion of the General Committee, is undesirable.
The use of cellular phones and two-way radios is forbidden inside the Clubhouse. Ring tones should be muted.
USE OF THE NDONGENI LAWNS
In accordance with the Club’s Liquor Licence there is no waiter service of alcoholic beverages on the Ndongeni Lawns. Food orders may only be placed with the serving staff when circumstances permit however orders should be placed in person at the bar counter or food counter located in the Lower Deck and payment tendered before any food and beverage is served.
Motor vehicles may not be parked on the Ndongeni Lawns without the prior written approval of the General Committee.
Bona fide members in good standing may, on application to the General Committee, be granted permission to park their dinghy on the Ndongeni Lawns subject to space limitations; subject to the payment of the prevailing parking fee; and in terms of the prevailing boat parking rules. All vessels parked on the lawns shall, at all times, be in a seaworthy condition and must be launched at least once a month. All vessels parked on the Ndongeni Lawns shall be stored under a canvas cover which shall be in good repair and all boats shall be stored in an orderly fashion within the designated parking area. Slapping rigging and halyards are strictly forbidden. Any vessel failing to meet these requirements or failing to display a valid current parking disc shall be removed from the Ndongeni Lawns without reference to the owner and at the owner’s cost.
Membership Cards remain the property of the Club and may only be used by the member to whom the card has been issued and are only valid for the period of issue. Membership Cards identify bona fide members of the Club who are in good standing and who are entitled to the privileges of membership of the Club including access to member’s prices. Membership Cards and associated privileges may be withdrawn at anytime at the sole discretion of the General Committee. Any abuse of member’s privileges may lead to cancelation of membership.
Members and their guests are required to conduct themselves in a dignified manner at all times while on Club premises. Foul language and/or abusive and/or loud behavior is not permitted, offenders will be removed from the premises.
Bar staff are instructed to immediately cease serving alcohol to any person whose behavior is offensive to others.
Smoking is not permitted within the Clubhouse.
