Well, can you believe it – our Wednesday night Fund raising sailing is upon us once again – the start of our 2017/2018 and into Royal Natal Yacht Club’s 160 year. What an achievement. Luckily I haven’t been round for that long (haha) and look forward to our Wednesdays out on the water.
Having survived our Annual regatta, wherein we had lots of weather and wind – RNYC launched our new season for our CANSA Fund raising drive with a lovely slide show provided by Bev and Craig Campbell, who have experienced this wonderful venue. Steven Saad of Aspen Pharma has given RNYC an amazing prize of a 3 night stay for two persons at Kirkman’s Kamp (near Kruger National Park) valued at R54450.
This raffle will be promoted each RNYC sailing evening, encouraging each person purchasing a ticket for just R20, ( R240 over 12 weeks) stands a chance of winning this amazing prize which will be drawn on the 21st March 2018. You have to be in it to win it !!
I will be at the Club on Wednesday afternoon from 3pm onwards to assist with registration for the new season – RNYC first race is next week – 11th October. Hope to see you all at Registration – remember it only costs R1 to register. Not registered, unfortunately then no results.
Should anyone wish to get involved in helping to run races and learn Bridge Duty, please do not hesitate to contact me – 072 648 7860 or through the Club.
Andy Brown is our new Rear Commodore, Hans Dettman has volunteered to keep Rescue up and running; Roy Cook (new to our committee) has been given the Cruising class portfolio. New young blood to the Sailing Committee is Michael Boorman – welcome aboard.
Well done to the RNYC team of Halcats who sailed at Stillbaai this last weekend – very impressive results.
We look forward to a fun year of sailing. We are still raising funds for CANSA and look forward to your support.
See you all on the water from 17h00.
Yours in sailing
Carol
