Wednesday Fun’d Series
27 January, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Good day everyone
Thank you all for your support last Wednesday – the day the wind died – my direct link with the man upstairs faltered – he has so much else to do ! We on Galaxy have noticed that there are one or two boats sailing that do not seem to have the correct equipment in good order. Always ensure you are aware of the Sandbanks – have your nav lights working and your engine, together with rope for towing if that becomes necessary – also your VHF radio to ensure that you are able to hear any instructions that the Port Captain may give out re shipping movement. We all want to have fun but we have to be safe too.
We had a wonderful turnout on Sunday for Reg’s memorial – bagpipes make me cry so – sorry for the red eyes !@#$ Again the weather was not playing too fair and although we started a race with a number of yachts – three sailed fairly around a shorten course. PheZulu did the whole course under power – line honours for them.
Therapy 1st, and winner of Reg’s trophy – Nimrod 2nd – and in 3rd Flyer – Nephtune’s Nymph got a special prize for reversing over the finish – the other yachts powered and flew spinnaker so was a pretty sight for all on the lawns – Reg would have been very proud of his family and friends. Thanks to all the Staff at RNYC for working hard to make this a special day.
This Wednesday is PYC night and next Wednesday 27th – PheZulu will be on board the Committee boat setting our course – lets hope we have wind this time. And there will be music by Kurt after the race. Teal/Turquiose T shirt can be worn for January supporting our CANSA campaign
Sailors – we have FIVE RNYC Wednesday evening sails before the end of our season – I have two slots to fil in February – which I know wont be difficult – February will be Green T shirts if you have – please pick up your ribbon from Margi at front office and in March – Navy Blue shirts/ribbons. Palluci and Nephtune’s Nymph on duty in March
Our Cansa drive is slowly picking up and with the Ladies luncheon on 5th March we hope to boost our Cansa coffers to R10 000 – because we can and we care.
Yours in sailing
Carol
